Job summary

Ambition is hiring a backend engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-native services using Java 17 and Spring Boot in a hybrid setup for a leading banking technology environment.

You will develop microservices, APIs, and secure architectures, deploy on Kubernetes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable banking solutions. Experience with AI-assisted tools is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on backend development experience with Java 17 and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and developing enterprise-grade microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience deploying and managing containerised applications using Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and integrating AI capabilities into workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Java 17 and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable microservices and RESTful APIs for enterprise banking applications with strong security and performance.
• Deploy, manage, and optimise applications on Kubernetes with containerisation best practices.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, product owners, and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable banking solutions.
• Optimise performance, troubleshoot production issues, and improve system reliability and observability.
• Implement secure coding standards, automated testing, and CI/CD to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery processes.
