Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Penang to lead mechanical design for major infrastructure projects across Malaysia and the APAC region. You will drive technical leadership, design management, and project delivery while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will review ACMV, fire protection, plumbing, BMS, LPG, utilities and plant systems, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance throughout design, tender, construction and handover phases.

Qualifications

• A recognised tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution or progress towards accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical design packages across all project phases from concept to handover.
• Provide technical review for ACMV, fire protection, plumbing, BMS, LPG, utilities, and mechanical plant systems on complex infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and design integration.
• Manage technical deliverables, design programmes, project risks, budgets, quality requirements and client expectations; support project managers and directors.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence initiatives and business development.
