Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced senior infrastructure production support engineer to troubleshoot complex production issues and automate repeatable tasks. You will guide junior resources and work across OS, databases and middleware in a regulated financial setting.

You will design automation, monitor health checks, and lead root-cause analysis for recurring incidents while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely production fixes and changes.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years infrastructure production support experience, preferably in banking or regulated tech.
• Strong scripting depth in at least one language with ability to write, maintain and troubleshoot automation scripts.
• Ability to write and optimize SQL queries and investigate production issues.
• Hands-on ITIL-based Incident, Problem and Change Management in production environments.
• Linux/Unix/RHEL and Windows troubleshooting across apps/infrastructure.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, PowerShell, Perl, or batch with automation tooling evidence.
• Knowledge of MS SQL and/or Sybase databases and production issue investigation.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring/observability tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Grafana, ELK, Nagios.
• Ability to document support procedures using Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Own deeper technical triage across OS, database, batch, logs and platform dependencies.
• Design and enhance automation scripts for recurring tasks and health checks.
• Lead problem analysis, trend identification and preventative actions for recurring incidents.
• Support containerized or modernized environments with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Incident triage and root-cause analysis across related applications.
• Maintain production stability through monitoring, alert analysis and runbooks.
• Collaborate with CTB/RTB, vendors and cross-functional teams for fixes and releases.
• Use Jira and Confluence to document incidents, changes and procedures.
