Job summary
OCBC Bank in Malaysia seeks an experienced AS400 System Engineer to steward the core banking environment (IBM i), storage, SAN, and encryption key management. You will implement patches, monitor performance, and lead DR exercises to ensure availability and reliability across critical banking workloads.
The role requires strong analytical skills, hands-on IBM i and storage expertise, and experience with automation tools.
Qualifications
- 7+ years IBM i (AS400) hands-on experience.
- 2+ years storage and SAN experience.
- Experience with Virtual Tape Library (VTL) technologies.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- PowerHA knowledge desirable.
- Knowledge of IBM Storage DS/FlashSystems is a plus.
- Experience with CL, SQL, programming, Ansible, or AI automation tools is advantageous.
- Exposure to Guardium MQ, ConnectDirect, SR-IOV technologies beneficial.
- Banking or financial services background is an added advantage.
Responsibilities
- Oversee health of core banking system environment incl IBM i, storage arrays, SAN switches, encryption key managers.
- Conduct regular system health checks on hardware and operating systems.
- Plan and execute patch management for IBM i products (PTF, VIOS, etc.).
- Coordinate disaster recovery exercises and system role-swaps.
- Maintain documentation of configurations, standards, and policies.
