Job summary
OCBC seeks an experienced AS400 (IBM i) System Engineer to safeguard the core banking environment, including IBM i, storage arrays, SAN switches, and encryption key management systems. You will monitor health, perform upgrades, and optimize performance across the infrastructure.
You will drive patch management, DR readiness, backups, and capacity planning, collaborating with multiple teams to support growth and security in a banking context.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years hands-on experience with IBM i (AS400) systems.
- At least 2 years experience with storage and SAN products.
- Experience with VTL technologies is required or highly desirable.
- Familiarity with IBM i PowerHA is valued.
- Exposure to IBM Security Guardium or related tools is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain health of the core banking system environment (IBM AS400, storage arrays, SAN switches).
- Conduct regular system health checks to ensure reliability and performance.
- Analyze and resolve software/hardware issues to minimize downtime.
- Plan patch management for IBM i products (PTF, VIOS, Copy Services, Security tools).
- Manage OS installations, restorations, and upgrades for IBM i environments.
- Coordinate DR exercises and system role-swaps, backups, and restores.
