Job summary

Transcontinental R&D (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Senior Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Technician to join our fleet maintenance team. You will perform complex diagnostics, major overhaul repairs, preventative maintenance, and safety inspections across a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, including diesel trucks, buses, and construction machinery.

The role also involves mentoring junior apprentices, maintaining detailed maintenance logs, and ensuring compliance with transport safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years hands-on experience with heavy transport vehicles or equipment.
• Certification: Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or CVL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced computer diagnostics and electrical/hydraulic troubleshooting on heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Carry out major mechanical repairs and overhauls on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions and steering components.
• Execute regular preventative maintenance and safety inspections to ensure compliance.
• Weld, fabricate, and modify structural components as required for fleet needs.

Senior Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Technician

We are seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Senior Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Technician to join our fleet maintenance team. In this role, you will perform complex diagnostics, major overhaul repairs, preventative maintenance, and safety inspections on a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles (including diesel trucks, buses, tractors, and heavy construction machinery). You will also serve as a technical mentor to junior apprentices and ensure strict compliance with transport safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

Conduct advanced computer diagnostics and electrical/hydraulic troubleshooting on heavy vehicles and equipment.

Perform major mechanical repairs and overhauls on diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, suspensions, and steering components.

Execute scheduled preventative maintenance services and regulatory safety inspections.

Weld, fabricate, and modify structural components as required for fleet operational needs.

Mentor, train, and oversee junior mechanics and apprentices to promote safe workshop practices.

Maintain detailed maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory tracking in the workshop database.

About you

Certification: Certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Commercial Vehicle License (e.g., CDL Class A/B or local equivalent), or relevant Trade Qualification is a plus.

Experience: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience working with heavy transport vehicles or heavy equipment.

Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in hydraulic systems, pneumatic air brakes, auto-electrical schematics, and modern diesel engine diagnostics (e.g., ISUZU, HINO, CAT, Volvo, UD, Scania).

Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, operate heavy shop equipment, and work comfortably in varied physical environments.

Safety & Standards: In-depth knowledge of commercial vehicle safety regulations and OSHA standard workshop practices is a plus.
