Job summary

Hapag-Lloyd AG in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is seeking a GL Accountant to support general ledger operations, cash flow monitoring, and financial reporting under local standards. You will handle intercompany settlements, bank reconciliations, and monthly closing cycles.

The role requires 3–5 years of related experience, a degree in accounting or finance (ACCA/CPA/MIA advantageous), and strong knowledge of SAP FI/CO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or MIA recommended.
• 3–5 years of General Ledger accounting, banking operations, or financial reporting experience.
• Solid knowledge of end-to-end GL processes: journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and month-end/quarter-end closing.
• Experience with bank reconciliations, cash position monitoring (CPR), and intercompany settlements.
• Good understanding of local tax requirements and statutory reporting.
• Strong SAP FI/CO experience and ICCL familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Handle agent settlements, intercompany invoices and postings, ensuring accuracy and proper document retention.
• Maintain GL updates, monthly closings, and prepare reconciliations for prepayments, provisions, and balance sheet accounts.
• Assist in annual budget, forecasts, and quarterly reporting; support tax filings and audits.
• Record cash and bank transactions, perform bank reconciliations, and monitor cash flow.
• Coordinate ICCL checks and improve internal controls.
• Support SAP system maintenance and ongoing projects as assigned.
