Job summary

Altera Corporation in Penang, Malaysia seeks an experienced Hardware Board Design Engineer (8+ years) to lead end-to-end development of complex hardware platforms. You will translate system requirements into board-level specifications, lead schematic capture, layout, and bring-up, with emphasis on high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal designs.

Candidates should have strong experience with processor/FPGA/SoC based systems and proficiency in Concept HDL, OrCAD and Allegro.

Qualifications

8+ years of hardware board design lifecycle experience.
Strong processor-, FPGA-, and SoC-based system design expertise.
Hands-on with high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal design principles.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end design and development of hardware platforms based on system architecture and specifications.
Ensure alignment with platform performance, power, thermal, and cost objectives for FPGA/ASIC systems.
Develop and review circuit designs, simulations, and trade-off analyses for robust hardware solutions.
Review PCB design rules, including placement, routing, stack-up, and SI/PI considerations.
Drive schematic capture, PCB layout, and design package creation from feasibility to tape-out.
Evaluate BOM cost, part availability, and risk mitigation for the platform.
Lead board bring-up, power-on, and platform debug with cross-functional teams.
Resolve cross-domain issues across electrical, firmware, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing.
