Job summary

Altera is seeking an experienced FPGA RTL and Firmware Development Engineer to join the Platform Hardware Board Engineering team in Penang. This hands-on role requires 10+ years of FPGA RTL design experience and practical firmware development, with ownership of RTL and embedded software for platform solutions.

The candidate will work with cross-functional teams to deliver development kits, validation boards, and platform-level enablement for next-generation FPGA devices, using Quartus II and EDS

Qualifications

• 10+ years of FPGA RTL design, implementation, and system-level validation.
• Strong hands-on experience with Verilog and/or VHDL, digital logic design, and FPGA-based system integration.
• Experience with Altera Quartus II flow including timing analysis and device programming.
• C and/or C++ for embedded firmware; experience with Nios II and associated peripherals.
• Familiarity with Altera EDS for Nios II software development, build, debug, and integration.
• Ability to bring up and debug FPGA development boards with lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Define, architect, design, implement, and validate FPGA RTL solutions for platform hardware and development kits.
• Lead the complete FPGA development flow from design planning to timing closure and release readiness.
• Develop and maintain embedded firmware for FPGA-based systems, focusing on Nios II peripherals.
• Collaborate with architecture, board design, silicon, and software teams to enable platform development.
• Plan and execute simulation, lab validation, and system-level debug using lab equipment.
