Job summary

Altera seeks an experienced FPGA RTL and Firmware Development Engineer to join the Platform Hardware Board Engineering team in Malaysia. You will lead RTL design, embedded firmware, and platform validation for development kits and validation boards, collaborating across architecture, design, and software teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on contribution, with responsibility for design, debug, lab validation, and release readiness using Quartus II and EDS tools.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional FPGA RTL design and system-level validation.
• Hands-on Verilog and/or VHDL, with clock-domain crossing and reset design experience.
• Experience with Quartus II flow: simulation, synthesis, timing, and device programming.
• Proficient in C/C++ for embedded firmware and hardware-software integration.
• Experience with Nios II soft-core and peripheral access, drivers, or BSPs.
• Proven ability to bring up complex FPGA platforms and debug with lab tools.

Responsibilities

• Define, architect, design, implement, and validate FPGA RTL solutions for platform hardware.
• Lead the complete FPGA development flow from planning to timing closure and release.
• Develop and maintain embedded firmware for FPGA-based systems (Nios II).
• Collaborate with architecture, board design, silicon, software, and system teams.
• Plan lab validation, stress testing, interoperability tests, and debugging.
• Create reusable RTL blocks, firmware components, and diagnostic tooling.
