Job summary

Otis Elevator Company (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a field service technician to perform preventive maintenance on lifts and escalators across customer sites, ensuring safe, reliable operation. The role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults, repairs, and after-hours standby support in Lumut and surrounding areas.

You will complete service reports, maintain equipment records, and communicate with customers and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
• 1–3 years of experience in lift/elevator and escalator maintenance or servicing is preferred.
• Candidates with experience in electrical, mechanical, M&E, building services, or industrial maintenance may also be considered.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge and practical experience in lift and escalator systems will be an added advantage.
• Able to troubleshoot and perform basic repair and adjustment works.
• Willing to work on standby and attend emergency callbacks when required.
• Willing to travel and work at customer sites, particularly within the Lumut area and surrounding locations.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Good problem-solving ability and able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Possess a valid driving licence and be willing to travel for service requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance for lifts and escalators according to OTIS maintenance procedures and customer requirements.
• Perform routine inspection, adjustment, cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of components where required.
• Identify potential equipment issues and recommend corrective actions to prevent breakdowns.
• Attend lift and escalator callback and breakdown complaints within the required response time.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, control, and safety-related faults.
• Carry out necessary corrective and repair works to restore equipment operation safely and efficiently.
• Conduct proper testing after repair and ensure the equipment is safe for normal operation.
• Perform repair and replacement of lift and escalator components.
• Assist engineers and supervisors in major repair, modernization, and technical troubleshooting activities when required.
• Able to work independently and handle routine service and repair activities at customer sites.
• Participate in the weekly standby rotation, including after-hours and emergency callback support.
• Travel to customer sites within the Lumut and surrounding areas to attend breakdowns and service requirements.
• Maintain good communication with supervisors, customers, and the service team regarding equipment status and repair progress.
• Complete preventive maintenance records and service reports accurately.
• Submit callback reports promptly after attending breakdowns.
• Record equipment defects, corrective actions, parts used, and recommendations for follow-up.
• Ensure all maintenance and service activities are properly updated in the relevant service system/applications.
• Maintain good customer relationships and provide professional service at customer sites.
• Explain equipment conditions and repair findings to customers when required.
• Strictly comply with OTIS safety procedures, PPE requirements, JHA, and all applicable statutory and site safety requirements.
