Job summary

SWM Environment Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Executive for the Leachate Treatment Plant (LTP) in Johor. You will monitor plant and laboratory performance, analyze key parameters, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain accurate record keeping.

You will lead and develop the LTP operations team, provide technical guidance, coach supervisors and operators, and drive safety, efficiency, and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering/science discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in leachate or wastewater treatment with supervision responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of leachate treatment processes and regulatory requirements (DOE).
• Certification in Leachate Plant operations is preferred; additional competency certifications are an advantage.

Senior Executive - Leachate Treatment Plant (LTP)

Monitor, analyze, and maintain plant operational and laboratory performance parameters (e.g. pH, DO, MLSS, SVI, COD, BOD) in accordance with DOE requirements, ensuring accurate record keeping and regulatory compliance.

Lead, supervise, train, and develop the LTP operations team, ensuring competency, safety awareness, and efficient plant operations. Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Leachate Treatment Plant (LTP) operations by providing technical guidance, coaching, training, and knowledge transfer to supervisors, operators, and other employees undertaking LTP-related responsibilities or professional certification programs.

Ensure all plant operations comply with company SOPs, DOE regulations, environmental requirements, and safety standards.

Drive continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives to enhance treatment performance, operational efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Monitor chemical inventory and usage to maintain sufficient stock levels while preventing wastage and overdosing.

Monitor bund tanks, ponds, and leachate containment systems to prevent spillage, overflow, and environmental contamination.

Ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained working environment within the plant.

Plan, coordinate, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment servicing, and calibration activities to ensure plant reliability and minimize operational downtime.

Liaise with DOE, BAKAJ, and other relevant authorities, and prepare all required regulatory submissions, audit documentation, and compliance reports.

Plan and coordinate operational resources, including overtime requirements, chemical procurement, contractor activities, and plant support services.

Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by management from time to time

Job Requirement

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Waste Management, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

Possession of a Certified Environmental Professional in Leachate Treatment Plant Operation (CePLTPO) certification is preferred. Candidates with CePIETSO/CePIETO or other relevant environmental competency certifications will have an added advantage.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in leachate treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, industrial effluent treatment systems, or related environmental operations, including experience supervising and leading operational teams.

Strong knowledge of leachate treatment processes, environmental regulations, DOE requirements, laboratory testing, process optimization, and plant operational best practices.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to supervise, coach, train, and develop supervisors, operators, and other employees. Experience serving as a technical resource, conducting knowledge transfer, and supporting certification or competency development programs will be an added advantage.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively under operational demands and tight deadlines.

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance, including pumps, motors, blowers, instrumentation, calibration, and process control systems, will be an added advantage.

Willingness to be on-call and respond to operational emergencies outside normal working hours to support continuous 24-hour plant operations.

Willing to work in a landfill environment, with the flexibility to travel as required for operational, training, audit, regulatory, or project-related purposes.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and technical reporting, with the ability to prepare operational, compliance, audit, and regulatory documentation.
