Job summary

Malaysia Airports Berhad is seeking a highly skilled project engineer to oversee MEP designs for Baggage Handling System (BHS) projects. You will coordinate with airport stakeholders, ensure feasible construction within live operations, and drive BIM-based execution across the project lifecycle.

The role requires an engineering degree, BEM registration, and proven experience in large-scale construction with strong communication skills and safety leadership. Malaysian citizens preferred.

Qualifications

• Recognized Engineering Degree level in Mechanical / Electrical from a Malaysian/UK/US/Canada/Australia/Singapore university.
• Registered with Boards of Engineer Malaysia (BEM).
• Experience in large and complex scale construction (>RM 300million) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead control and review of MEP designs for seamless BHS integration and compliance.
• Coordinate with Civil, Architecture, IT and baggage screening teams for functional BHS implementation.
• Utilize BIM and PIM tools to drive project execution across lifecycle stages.
• Monitor progress, risks and opportunities; report to Technical Manager.
• Ensure documentation of changes to specifications, scope and drawings.
• Promote safety culture and adherence to company standards.

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY

• Assist in planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) aspects for Baggage Handling System (BHS) construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

• Lead the control and review of MEP designs to ensure seamless integration with BHS functionality, full contractual and regulatory compliance, and fitness for purpose.
• Closely liaise with key airport stakeholders to capture operational requirements, secure design buy-in, and ensure construction execution is feasible within a live brownfield airport environment,
• Co-ordinate with other trades such as Civil & Structure, Architecture, IT and baggage screening system to ensure overall BHS system is functional as per desired parameter,
• Utilize Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Project Information Modelling (PIM) tools to drive project execution throughout project lifecycle,
• Monitor and report to Technical Manager of detailed design including progress, risks and opportunities in a timely manner and full utilisation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) & Project Information Modelling (PIM),
• Ensure all changes to specifications, work scope and drawings are well documented,
• Monitor construction productivity and schedule performance and investigate reasons for less than satisfactory performance.
• Provide recommendations and institute measures for improvement by modification to operating procedures/ work instructions.
• Adhere to Company Safety Standards and promote safety culture among the ranks through out the Company.
• Planning and preparing construction schedules and milestones, and monitoring progress against established schedules as well as integration part with the current BHS operations,
• Any other ad-hoc projects and duties as required by the management.
• To ensure that all MEP designs are robust, fit-for-purpose, and fully optimized to support the BHS design,
• Driving design constructability and managing complex temporary phasing works to allow seamless installation and testing while minimizing disruption to ongoing airport operations
• Serving as the technical bridge between internal project teams (MAHB), airport stakeholders and turnkey contractors, while ensuring complete, end-to-end implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) across all project life-cycle phases

Education

• Recognized Engineering Degree level in Mechanical / Electrical from an established university in Malaysia / UK / US / Canada / Australia / Singapore
• Registered with Boards of Engineer Malaysia

Relevant Industries

• Strong technical expertise in project management and communication skills, and Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge in overall construction environment including new technology and relevant authority bodies requirement.
• Posses technical experiences in large and complex scale construction industry (>RM 300million)
• Relevant experience in Baggage Handling System (BHS) is an added advantage.
