Job summary
POET Technologies in Malaysia (Penang) seeks a Senior Engineer, Equipment to provide hands-on equipment engineering support for photonic manufacturing. The role covers installation, qualification, troubleshooting, maintenance, and performance improvement across photonic bonding, optical/electrical tests, and burn-in processes.
The Senior Engineer will collaborate with process engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to ensure equipment meets production, reliability, and quality
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Optical/Photonics, or related field.
- 3–8+ years of equipment engineering experience in semiconductor, photonics, optoelectronics, or advanced electronics manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with precision manufacturing equipment and equipment qualification methods (Cp/Cpk, MSA/Gauge R&R, SPC, FMEA).
- Strong troubleshooting with experience working with OEMs/suppliers and production support.
- Willingness to travel and strong communication across functions.
Responsibilities
- Execute installation, commissioning, qualification, and acceptance of equipment per specs.
- Support equipment operation for photonic assembly, bonding, tests, and burn-in processes.
- Monitor performance metrics (OEE, MTBF, MTTR, throughput) and implement improvements.
- Troubleshoot failures using root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with OEMs/suppliers on issues, FAT/SAT, and qualification support.
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, spare parts, EHS, documentation, and change control.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians, collaborating with manufacturing and quality teams.
