Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking an L2 IT infrastructure specialist in Penang to support Windows/Unix servers and databases, ensure 24/7 coverage, and participate in major incidents.

You will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize MFG systems while coordinating with Level 3 experts on security, availability and performance. The role emphasizes incident management, capacity planning, and developing SOPs, with opportunities to learn VMware, OpenShift, Cisco UCS and related hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/EE/CE/IS or related fields.
• Academic or internship experience in IT infrastructure and virtualization.
• Certifications from Microsoft, VMware, Citrix and Cisco are a plus.
• Programming and scripting knowledge in Java, PowerShell and Python preferred.
• Desire to learn hardware and virtualization tech (Cisco UCS, HPE ProLiant, VMware).
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Flexible to work day and night shift.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2 support for incident, request, change and problem management for servers and DBs.
• Support Windows and Unix OS in 24/7 environments and participate in major incidents.
• Ensure SLA compliance for incidents and service requests.
• Meet KPIs such as breach case targets, MTTR and escalation targets.
• Install/upgrade firmware, apply patches, and implement changes as required.
• Diagnose OS/hardware errors to maintain high availability of MFG systems.
• Monitor server performance and analyze cases to prevent recurring issues.
• Review and enhance server monitoring as needed.
• Develop processes and SOPs for server operations.
• Create/manage reports, visuals, and dashboards for Windows/Unix ops.
• Perform capacity planning and participate in DR drills.
• Collaborate with Level 3 SMEs on improvement projects for security, availability, performance.

• Provide L2 support in incident, request, change and problem management related to server and DB operations in Windows and Unix operating systems.
• Provide L2 support covering 24/7 and participate in Major incidents.

Requirement:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics/Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems or related fields.
• Academic know-how or internship experiences in the infrastructure domain of IT (Microsoft Windows 2019, 2016 and RHEL operating systems, Microsoft SQL and Oracle) and virtualization technologies
• Desire to learn hardware and virtualization technologies like Cisco UCS, HPE ProLiant, VMware, Nutanix, OpenShift and Citrix
• Certifications from Microsoft, VMWare, Citrix and Cisco and familiarity with scripting languages will be an added advantage
• Knowledge in programming and scripting languages such as Java, PowerShell and Python is preferred
• Leveraging Ai for daily work is added value as well
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Flexible to work on day and night shift.
