Job summary

GlobalFoundries Malaysia Sdn. Bhd in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Process Engineer to monitor production lines and drive improvements across statistics, automation, and new tool releases.

You will work with cross-functional teams to enhance wafer yields and productivity, supporting ramp schedules and process qualifications. The role requires 3+ years of relevant experience and strong problem-solving, SPC, DOE and big data analytics capabilities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability in structured problem solving and root cause analysis with solution development.
• Strong knowledge in SPC, risk assessment, DOE and 8D approaches.
• Experience in big data analysis and use of AI/ML.

Responsibilities

• Support production line SPC/FDC monitoring, perform process window study and provide improvement plan.
• Support Process CIP to improve process robustness, cost and capacity efficiency.
• Develop new process recipes for new/existing technologies.
• Improve process performance indices using big data analytics and structured problem solving.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams and suppliers for method convergence on recipes and tools.
• Support production ramp by process qualification, productivity improvement and tool releases.
• Provide training to Associate Engineers for day-to-day operations.
• Opportunities for rotation and overseas assignments.

Why This Role

The role is based in the GF Malaysia office in Penang, Malaysia. The GF Malaysia office serves as a key hub providing engineering resources to supplement GF’s global fab operations on a real‑time basis. Through the monitoring of key production processes, performance metrics and tool uptime, the GF Malaysia team will be able to provide important round‑time support for our global manufacturing operations. As the ideal candidate, you will leverage your analytical and problem‑solving skills and play a vital role to fuel our growth in Process Engineering. Your role will span across existing and new Fabs, improving processes and thereby wafer yields, increasing manufacturing productivity that are key to achieving Fab excellence. Coaching Associate Engineers (AEs) will also be part of your job responsibilities.

What You Will Do

• Support production line, SPC/FDC (statistical process control / fault detection classification) monitoring, perform process window study and provide improvement plan to improve process stability and performance.
• Support Process CIP (continuous improvement projects) to improve process robustness, cost and capacity efficiency.
• Develop new process recipes for new/existing technologies.
• Improve process performance indices adopting big data analytic, statistical analysis and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
• Work with cross functional teams, cross fabs and OEM suppliers for BKM (best known method) convergence on recipes, material, method and I4.0 automation.
• Support company's production ramp schedule by process qualification, productivity improvement and new tool release.
• Provide training and guidance to Associate Engineers (AEs) to support day‑to‑day operational requirements.
• Opportunities for job rotation and overseas assignment.
• Opportunities to file patents, author technical papers for publication and present at local or overseas seminars.

What You Will Need

• MS/BS in Chemical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Chemistry & Physics with minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability in structured problem solving and root cause analysis with solution development.
• Strong knowledge in SPC (Statistical Process Control), risk assessment, DOE (Design of Experiment) and 8D approaches.
• Experience in big data analysis and use of AI/ML.
