Responsible to monitor and analyse plant water chemistry, oil (fuel, lubricants, insulating and hydraulic) quality and environmental of power plants within the framework of commercial contracts, statutory requirements and manufacturer’s recommendations in line with Safety, health and Environmental requirement.
Perform analysis on the results of water chemistry and carry out coordination with respective maintenance on the recommendations actions.
Assist Head of Operations in managing power plants environmental duties, air emissions, waste water and scheduled wastes.
Responsibilities:
- Day to day water chemistry monitoring.
- Analysing steam and water quality results.
- Analysing oils and distillate quality results.
- Taking care and operating water treatment plant, electro-chlorination plant and Industrial Effluent Treatment System.
- Coordinate and trouble shoot of changes in boiler/ cooling water chemistry etc.
- Ensuring that Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) compliance is met through analysing and sampling.
- Assist in scheduled wastes management.
- Carry out ad-hoc sampling and analysis as deemed necessary.
- Guide and coaching lab technician.
- Maintaining plant testing equipment as per maintenance plan.
- Assist Head of Operations to review and update Integrated Management System IMS procedures and work instructions as required.
- Monitor and maintaining chemical stock and initiate procurement accordingly.
- Executing procurement as per planned budget.
- Comply with all applicable SHEQ legal requirements and our stakeholders’ specifications by establishing policies, programmes and practices in order to conduct operations in a healthy, safe and environmentally sound manner with safety first, quality foremost & pursuing excellence.
- To perform other additional tasks that are relevant and necessary to accomplish the company overall objectives, which may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Chemical Engineering or
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or
- Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry
- Minimum Mandatory Competency (License) required:
- Certified Environmental Professional in The Operation Of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems - Physical Chemical Processes (CePIETSO – PCP) OR
- Certified Environmental Professional in The Scheduled Waste Management-CepSWAM.
- Optional requirement or added advantage:
- Oil Analysis Level 2 (OAL2)
- Minimum years of working experience related to the work scope:
- 5 years working experience in related field or similar industry.
- Experience at least 3 years in combine cycle power plant operations, water chemistry and boiler.
- Working experience in laboratory environment
- Experience in guiding and leading a team of chemical staff
- Knowledgeable in Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and process principle
