Job summary

Agro Snow Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Johor is seeking a Senior Electrical Technician / B0 Chargeman to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of our 11kV electrical systems across the plant. You will lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, inspect switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, and distribution boards, and ensure compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga and LOTO procedures.

This is a hands-on role within the Engineering & Maintenance team, with opportunities to mentor

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with 11kV systems in manufacturing.
• 5–7 years of electrical maintenance experience.
• Ability to read SLDs and electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain 11kV electrical systems and associated equipment.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults in machinery, motors, panels, switchboards, and facilities.
• Ensure LOTO, isolation, and safety procedures are followed.
• Maintain records and reports of maintenance activities.
• Support commissioning, start-up, and modification projects.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Senior Electrical Technician / B0 Chargeman to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of our plant electrical systems.

The successful candidate should have practical experience in 11kV electrical systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, motors, control panels, and plant electrical distribution.

This role is critical in ensuring the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of the plant electrical infrastructure while maintaining compliance with applicable electrical safety requirements and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain 11kV electrical systems and associated equipment.

Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant electrical systems.

Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical faults involving machinery, motors, control panels, switchboards, and plant facilities.

Maintain and inspect:

• 11kV switchgear
• Transformers
• LV distribution boards
• Protection relays
• Motors and Motor Control Centres (MCC)
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
• Electrical wiring and cabling systems

Support safe electrical switching, isolation, energization, and de-energization activities within the approved competency scope.

Monitor plant electrical loads, voltage, current, power factor, and equipment operating conditions.

Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and power supply interruptions to minimize plant downtime.

Support plant start-up, shutdown, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.

Assist engineers and contractors during electrical modification, upgrading, and improvement projects.

Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed and properly documented.

Maintain electrical inspection records, maintenance reports, logbooks, and equipment history.

Ensure electrical work complies with Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements, applicable electrical regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.

Implement proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and electrical isolation procedures.

Monitor contractors performing electrical work and ensure site safety and technical requirements are followed.

Identify recurring electrical issues and recommend corrective actions and improvements.

Maintain electrical tools, testing equipment, spare parts, and maintenance materials.

Provide guidance and technical support to junior electrical technicians and operators.

Maintain good housekeeping in substations, electrical rooms, MCC rooms, and maintenance areas.

Requirements

Diploma / Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or equivalent.

Hands-on experience handling 11kV electrical systems.

Minimum 5-7 years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment.

Strong practical knowledge of:

• 11kV electrical distribution systems
• HV/LV switchgear
• Transformers
• Electrical substations
• Protection relays and circuit breakers
• Motors and MCC systems
• Industrial electrical wiring
• Electrical troubleshooting and fault finding

Able to read and interpret:

• Single Line Diagrams (SLD)

Knowledge of PLC and automation systems will be an added advantage.

Good understanding of electrical safety, LOTO, permit-to-work systems, and safe isolation procedures.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Able to support and guide junior technicians when required.

Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
