Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking an experienced Data Engineer specializing in data migration and Azure-based data solutions. You will lead end-to-end migrations, design scalable ETL pipelines, and build robust data models to support analytics and BI across a financial services client in Malaysia.

The role requires deep SQL skills and hands-on experience with Oracle and MS SQL Server, along with cloud architecture using Azure Data Factory, Synapse and Databricks.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data engineering and migration experience.
• Hands-on with Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks).
• Deep knowledge of Oracle and MS SQL Server; strong SQL querying.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end data migration projects including legacy system analysis and mapping.
• Design, build, test and maintain scalable ETL pipelines for large data volumes.
• Design robust data models to support reporting and BI requirements.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, procedures, and scripts across relational DBs.
• Leverage Azure data services to build secure, scalable data infrastructure.
• Collaborate with analysts, software engineers and stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions.

key responsibilities:

• Data Migration & Mapping: Lead end-to-end data migration projects, including analyzing legacy systems, mapping data structures, and executing seamless migrations to target architectures.

• ETL Pipeline Development: Design, build, test, and maintain highly scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to process large volumes of data.

• Data Modeling: Design robust logical and physical data models to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence requirements.

• Database Management: Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts across relational database systems.

• Cloud Architecture: Leverage Microsoft Azure data services to build and optimize secure, scalable, and highly available data infrastructure.

• Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, software engineers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.

requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Data Engineering and Data Migration.

• Cloud Expertise: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, or similar).

• Database Proficiency: Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Oracle and/or MS SQL Server.

• Core Skills: Exceptional proficiency in SQL and database querying.

• Data Architecture: Proven experience with complex data mapping, data profiling, and data modeling methodologies.

• ETL Mastery: Strong background in building and maintaining automated ETL workflows.
