Job summary

Unknown Client seeks a seasoned Engineering Operations leader to oversee on-site facilities, maintenance programs, and vendor coordination for critical data centre environments.

You will manage multi-skilled teams, ensure statutory compliance, and drive preventive and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems, partnering with the engineering team to resolve failures and improve reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, or operational engineering.
• 6–8 years of relevant engineering or critical environment experience.
• 2–3 years operating electrical and mechanical services in Tier III or equivalent data centre or critical facility.
• Hands-on experience with M&E and building-related systems (e.g., CRAU, chillers, PDU, UPS, Switch Gears Ops, DX cooling, Network cabling, Security).
• Competence in Job Hazards Analysis (JHA).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with client and vendor staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to multi-skilled Engineering Operations teams, including staff and vendors.
• Ensure staff and vendors adhere to client policies and procedures within facilities.
• Escalate critical failures and assist the technical team with safety, analysis, rectification, and improvement reporting.
• Implement maintenance programs, preventive/planned maintenance, repair initiatives, and helpdesk management.
• Manage hard and soft service operations, ensuring procedures and standards are followed.
• Oversee site repair and maintenance by subcontractors, ensuring quality and compliance with specifications.
• Monitor contractor performance against budgets and contractual KPIs.
• Coordinate meetings with contractors and vendors to address underperformance and develop corrective actions.
• Ensure maintenance documentation supports asset management standards.
• Assist client with statutory compliance requirements and certifications.

About Our Client

Our client is a global professional services firm specializing in real estate and investment management.

Job Summary

This role leads on-site operational, team, and vendor management for facility operations and maintenance, finance, HSE, and procurement. It focuses on achieving excellence in preventative and reactive maintenance programs, ensuring statutory and contractual compliance. The position also involves overseeing mechanical and electrical systems and coordinating critical failure remediation with the Engineering Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to multi-skilled Engineering Operations teams, including directly employed staff and vendors.
• Ensure all staff and vendors adhere to our client's policies and procedures within the facilities.
• Act as an escalation point for critical failures, assisting the technical team with safety, identification, analysis, rectification, and improvement reporting.
• Implement operational standards and procedures, preventive and planned maintenance programs, repair and replacement initiatives, and helpdesk management.
• Manage both hard and soft service operations, ensuring all agreed procedures and standards are implemented.
• Oversee all site repair and maintenance carried out by subcontractors, ensuring work completion, quality, and compliance with specifications and ordinances.
• Monitor, measure, and report on the performance of specialist contractors against agreed contractual budgets.
• Coordinate periodic meetings with contractors, specialist vendors, and suppliers to maintain standards and develop corrective action plans for underperformance.
• Ensure maintenance documentation meets required standards for effective asset management.
• Assist the client with statutory compliance requirements and certifications for the site.

Requirements

• Certified Data Centre Professional.
• Tertiary Qualification (Bachelor’s Degree) in a mechanical, electrical, or operational engineering discipline.
• 6–8 years of relevant experience in engineering or critical environment space.
• 2–3 years of experience in the operation of electrical and mechanical services in Tier III or equivalent data centre or critical facility.
• Competence and experience in maintenance and operations of data centre and/or critical environment space.
• Hands-on experience and knowledge in M&E and building-related systems (e.g., CRAU, chillers, PDU, UPS, Switch Gears Ops, DX cooling, Network structure cabling, Security).
• Competence in undertaking Job Hazards Analysis (JHA).
• Sound computer skills in window-based operating systems; AutoCAD skill is an advantage.
• Excellent people skills and ability to interact with a wide range of client and vendor staff.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing or business justification.
