Job summary

Private Advertiser in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to oversee product costing, standard costs and inventory valuation.

You will monitor actual vs standard costs, variances, inventory reconciliation, and prepare timely costing, inventory and profitability reports for management.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in costing or inventory control, strong Excel and ERP skills, and proven leadership for cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in costing, management accounting or inventory control, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory valuation, variance analysis and budgeting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
• Good leadership, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage product costing, standard costs and cost allocation.
• Monitor and analyse actual vs. standard costs, including material usage, yield, wastage, labour and overhead variances.
• Oversee inventory costing, valuation, reconciliation, ageing and stock variances.
• Monitor inventory turnover, slow-moving and obsolete stocks, and recommend appropriate actions.
• Review physical stock counts and investigate significant inventory discrepancies.
• Analyse production costs, operational efficiency and profitability by product/business unit.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and work with Operations to improve cost efficiency and inventory controls.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and month-end costing activities.
• Prepare timely costing, inventory and profitability reports for management decision-making.
• Strengthen internal controls and continuously improve costing and inventory processes.
