Job summary

Brooks Automation is seeking a Cost Engineer to lead cost estimating for new and legacy products in the semiconductor automation space. You will estimate costs for machined and fabricated components, develop should-cost targets, and support supplier negotiations to achieve target costs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cost estimating.
• Strong background in mechanical commodities and reading drawings.
• Understanding of GD&T and mechanical workmanship standards.
• Analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Customer-focused with ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal direction.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
• Knowledge of cost methodologies and software modeling tools.
• Experience with aPriori is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Determine cost estimate targets during design and development, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Use cost methodologies and software models to prepare reliable data.
• Transform costing through continuous improvement of systems and procedures.
• Collect data to estimate costs for machined or fabricated products.
• Ensure supplier quotations meet should-cost estimates.
• Support supplier meetings and negotiations to reduce costs to target levels.
• Gather specifications to convert to cost estimates for new/current products.
• Support the quote process and ensure quote accuracy, quality, and speed.
• Lead and mentor regions/sites in costing procedures and processes.
• Provide cost estimates during change processes and assess impact.
• Provide costing/pricing support to sites and regions as needed.
• Review engineering changes for manufacturability and supply chain impact.
