Job summary

BONG CL & CO is seeking an experienced Accountant in Kuala Lumpur to manage full sets of accounts, month- and year-end closings, and prepare management reports. You will supervise junior staff and oversee project costing for construction projects.

The role requires 4–6 years of accounting experience, proficiency with AutoCount/SQL Accounting/Xero, and strong Excel skills. Collaboration with auditors and tax agents is essential, with a focus on accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, with 1–2 years in a senior/supervisory capacity.
• Familiarity with construction/project accounting concepts (progress billing, retention sums, cost-to-complete).
• Proficiency in accounting software (AutoCount, SQL Accounting, Xero) and advanced Excel skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
• Good communication skills for liaising with internal teams, auditors, and external parties.
• Able to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full set of accounts (AP/AR/GL) and general ledger.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, management accounts, and variance analysis.
• Guide junior staff on day-to-day accounting entries and processes.
• Monitor project costing, progress billing, and WIP for construction projects.
• Prepare contract/profitability reports and cost-to-complete analysis.
• Handle bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
• Ensure SST/withholding tax/income tax compliance and liaise with auditors and tax agents.
