Job summary

Qra in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a dedicated kitchen team member to support daily operations in our show kitchen. You will work with the chef lead on ingredient ordering, maintain mise en place, and ensure dish quality and service readiness.

The role requires a high school diploma (culinary certification preferred), 2–5 years’ experience, knowledge of food safety, and the ability to work six days a week. English proficiency and teamwork are essential to engage with customers and colleagues.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent; culinary certification preferred.
• 2-5 years of work experience in a similar role.
• Good understanding of food, health, and safety regulations.
• Able to work a 6 days week in a shift pattern.
• Able to communicate and collaborate in a team.
• Comfortable in English and Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Open and close kitchen procedures to prepare for service.
• Assist chef lead with daily ingredient ordering and quality/quantity checks.
• Ensure mise en place is prepared for smooth service.
• Prepare and plate dishes with consistency and accuracy.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and equipment in a show kitchen.
• Stay updated on food trends and share ideas with colleagues and customers.
• Contribute to seasonal menu ideation.

The Role

On a day-to-day basis, this role includes the following responsibilities.

Executing the opening and/or closing procedures to ensure the kitchen is ready for service.

Assist the chef lead in the daily ingredient ordering and ensuring that the ingredients received are up to standard and quantity.

Ensure the necessary mise en place is completed for a smooth service

Consistent food preparation and maintaining the dish standards to build a consistent reputation. This includes serving the right dish to the right order

Ensure the hygiene and maintenance of the kitchen as well as the related equipment especially since this is a show kitchen.

Stay in touch with the latest food trends or innovations and sharing them with colleagues and customers to effectively engage with them

Participate in menu item ideation for seasonal promotions

What We Are Looking For

High school diploma or equivalent; higher certification in culinary arts preferred.

2-5 years of work experience in a similar role.

Good understanding of food, health, and safety regulations

Able to work a 6 days week in a shift pattern.

Able to communicate and collaborate in a team.

Comfortable in English and Malaysia
