Job summary

OceanSTAR Elite Engineering Groups Pte. Ltd. seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop and operate the server-side foundation of its industrial digital platform supporting offshore EPCIC operations.

You will transform data from industrial sources into reliable backend services and contribute to group-wide standards. Reporting to the Digital Platform Lead, you will implement REST/GraphQL/WebSocket services, manage relational/time-series databases and deploy on Alibaba Cloud with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field.
• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with hands-on Java and Python.
• Experience designing REST APIs, GraphQL and WebSocket services.
• Strong relational/time-series database design and SQL optimisation.
• Experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes and Git-based workflows.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms; Alibaba Cloud is a plus.
• Knowledge of Spark, PySpark, Databricks and data lakehouse concepts.
• Good English communication for international projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate scalable backend services and microservices.
• Define API contracts and integration patterns for industrial data platform.
• Develop REST APIs, GraphQL endpoints and WebSocket services.
• Maintain enterprise databases with PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, SQL Server and MySQL.
• Deploy and operate backend on cloud infrastructure with container orchestration.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
• Ensure security, reliability, performance and cost management.
