Job summary

E Charis Consult in Johor Bahru is seeking a Civil and Structural Engineer to join our engineering team. This full-time role involves designing, analyzing and overseeing civil and structural projects, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance across sites in Malaysia.

You will collaborate with architects and contractors, perform detailed analyses, prepare construction documents and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, ETABS, SAP2000 or similar software.
• Solid knowledge of Malaysian building codes and regulations.
• Excellent understanding of structural analysis and construction methodologies.
• Good project management and organizational skills with multi-project capacity.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; willingness to travel to sites.
• Experience with BIM is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop structural systems for buildings, bridges and infrastructure projects.
• Conduct structural analysis and calculations to meet safety codes and client specs.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications and construction documents.
• Perform site inspections and supervise construction activities.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors and stakeholders to resolve design challenges.
• Review and approve engineering plans and reports from junior staff.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposals.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental regs and industry standards.
• Maintain project records for regulatory and quality assurance purposes.
• Mentor junior engineers and support staff.
