We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Senior Chemist who has solid experience in handling natural rubber latex to drive formulation development, material optimization, and process efficiency in our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will lead laboratory trials, spearhead raw material assessments (from latex, chemicals and compounds), and collaborate closely with production teams to translate lab-scale innovations into robust, cost-effective factory outputs.
Key responsibilities
- Design, test, and optimize chemical compounding and rubber/latex formulations to meet stringent global quality and performance standards
- Identify opportunities for material substitutions and process improvements to drive cost efficiencies without compromising product integrity
- Oversee advanced laboratory analyses and instrumental testing; ensure strict maintenance, calibration, and sterilization protocols for all critical lab equipment
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support directly to the production floor during new product introduction and trials
- Investigate technical customer complaints, perform rigorous root-cause stability testing, and generate comprehensive scientific reports to rectify compounding or processing anomalies
- Maintain full compliance with local and international environmental, health, and safety (EHS) legislation within the laboratory and compounding environments
About you
- Bachelor's Degree (Honours) or higher in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or a highly related discipline from a reputable university
- At least 3 to 5 years of hands‑on R&D or technical chemist experience in handling natural rubber latex, ideally within the latex, glove, rubber thread, or polymer manufacturing industries
- Proven track record in polymer/rubber compounding, raw material assessment, and stability testing
- Hands‑on proficiency with analytical lab instrumentation and product development software
- Strong capabilities in experimental design, statistical data sorting, and scientific analysis
- Exceptional problem‑solving skills with a results‑driven mindset
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced factory environment and lead junior technicians effectively
