Job summary

Oglaend System Group seeks a Senior CAD Design Engineer – Process & Automation to combine advanced CAD design with engineering judgment, process improvement, and automation mindset. You will prepare production-ready drawings, create 3D models, and drive automation of repetitive workflows to enhance efficiency.

The role supports product development, product care, and operations by ensuring drawings, BOMs, and documentation are accurate and standardized across systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in steel manufacturing design or industrial product development.
• Advanced CAD expertise in 2D/3D and related Autodesk tools.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and refine accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for production.
• Perform design calculations, including tolerance analysis and weld design.
• Generate BOMs and support costing activities in M3 ERP system.
• Provide drawings and documentation support to manufacturing and ensure alignment with capabilities and standards.
• Maintain high documentation standards and ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Resolve design challenges and optimize for manufacturability and efficiency.
• Use PDM and ERP systems to structure, manage, and release design data.
• Identify repetitive CAD, drawing, BOM, and item-data activities for automation.
• Develop and maintain CAD automation tools, templates, rules, and workflows.
• Effectively communicate design concepts, specifications, and updates with stakeholders and project teams.

Job description

The Senior CAD Design Engineer – Process & Automation plays a key role within the OIM GT&M Product Care organization, combining advanced CAD design capability with engineering judgement, process improvement, and automation mindset. The role is responsible for preparing production-ready drawings and 3D models, performing design calculations, managing item registrations and BOMs in M3, strengthening PDM/ERP data quality, and identifying opportunities to automate repetitive design and documentation workflows. This position supports product development, product care, and operational production by ensuring drawings, BOMs, item data, and engineering documentation are accurate, standardized, validated, and aligned across systems.

Key responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and refine accurate 2D drawings and 3D models, documentation for production
• Perform design calculations, including tolerance analysis, and weld design
• Generate Bills of Material (BOMs) and support costing activities in M3 ERP system
• Provide drawings and documentation support to manufacturing, ensuring alignment with production capabilities, technical requirements and standards
• Maintain high documentation standards, ensuring consistency and compliance with internal guidelines and best practices
• Resolve design challenges and optimize designs for functionality, manufacturability, and efficiency
• Use PDM and ERP systems to structure, manage, and release design data
• Identify repetitive CAD, drawing, BOM, and item-data activities that can be simplified, standardized, or automated
• Develop and maintain practical CAD automation tools, templates, rules, and workflow improvements to improve design quality, speed, and consistency
• Effectively communicate design concepts, specifications, and updates with internal stakeholders and project teams

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in steel manufacturing design, mechanical assemblies, or industrial product development, covering structural understanding, material selection, weld design, tolerance management, and integration with fabrication processes such as machining, forming, and welding according to relevant international standards
• Advanced expertise in 2D and 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor, Vault, and AutoCAD suite
• Strong understanding of mechanical production methods, including sheet metal, welded structures, mechanical assemblies, machining, forming, finishing, and design-for-manufacturing principles
• Ability to create and maintain CAD templates, drawing standards, model rules, libraries, and structured documentation workflows
• Experience with PDM systems and ERP platforms; Infor M3 experience is an advantage
• Structured, detail-oriented, and consistent in documentation practices
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, compelling visual communication
