YDT Automation Sdn Bhd in Shah Alam is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop mechanical systems for AGV, AMR and warehouse automation products, from concept to prototyping and testing.
You will create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D fabrication drawings, while selecting components and maintaining BOMs. Collaboration with robotics, electrical, and applications teams is essential for successful development.
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop mechanical systems for our AGV, AMR and warehouse automation products. You will be involved from concept design through prototyping, fabrication, assembly, testing and continuous improvement, working closely with our robotics, electrical and applications engineering teams.
Key responsibilities
Design mechanical structures and mechanisms for AGV, AMR and automation systems
Create detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies
Prepare 2D fabrication and engineering drawings
Design robot chassis, frames, lifting mechanisms, fixtures, brackets and custom mechanisms
Select suitable mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, wheels, linear guides and actuators
Prepare and maintain BOMs and technical documentation
Apply proper tolerances, fits and GD&T where required
Work closely with fabrication suppliers for CNC machining, sheet metal, welding and metal fabrication
Support prototype assembly, testing and troubleshooting
Improve existing robot designs for reliability, manufacturability, cost and ease of maintenance
About you
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field
Strong skills in 3D CAD modelling
Able to prepare proper 2D engineering and fabrication drawings
Good understanding of mechanical design fundamentals
Familiar with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal, welding and metal fabrication
Able to perform basic mechanical calculations
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team
Experience in AGV / AMR / robotics, machine design, automation equipment, lifting mechanisms, conveyor systems, structural design, motor and gearbox selection, FEA / structural simulation, Onshape / SolidWorks / Inventor, or Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
