Job summary

GrabTaxi Holdings Pte. Ltd. in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, seeks a Backend Engineer to build and scale backend systems powering accounting, reporting, and third-party integrations for insurance products.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Insurance Operations, you will contribute to BNM regulatory reporting capabilities, collaborate across teams, and own features from design through deployment in an on-site role.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Golang.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and Git.
• CS fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform.
• Experience with clean architecture and SOLID principles.
• Experience with financial/regulatory systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality backend applications for accounting, reporting, and integration services.
• Build and maintain third-party integrations (ISM, APAD, JPJ) for regulatory compliance.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with diverse teams to design and ship new features.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure service reliability.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction.
