Job summary

Grab is seeking a Backend Engineer for GrabFin in Malaysia to power accounting, reporting, and third-party integrations for insurance products. You will report to the Engineering Manager, Insurance Operations, and contribute to BNM regulatory reporting capabilities.

The role is onsite at the Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office, with ownership, learning, and autonomy expected from candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant experience in software development.
• Proficiency in Java (preferred) and/or Golang.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and Git.
• Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS).
• Experience with clean architecture principles and SOLID principles.
• Experience with financial/regulatory systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality and scalable backend applications for accounting, reporting, and integration services.
• Build and maintain third-party integrations (ISM, APAD, JPJ) for regulatory compliance.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code to solve challenging problems.
• Collaborate with diverse teams to design and ship new features.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge.
• Troubleshoot, debug complex issues, and provide quick resolutions.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction.
• Participate in On-Call rotations to ensure service reliability.
