Job summary

Standard Chartered is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable in-house applications with AI-enabled capabilities. You will integrate LLM and RAG patterns, build agent workflows and ensure governance, security and observability across enterprise systems.

You will collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners and risk/platform teams globally to deliver high-quality AI services while adhering to enterprise standards and responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum experience of 10 years in IT with at least 8 years in relevant domains.
• Proficient in RESTful API, SpringBoot 3.x, SpringBatch.
• Knowledge of Relational and/or No-SQL databases.
• Experience with JMS messaging using Solace, Kafka, IBM MQ.
• Familiar with API Gateways, API security and OAuth 2/OIDC.
• Ability to manage CI/CD tasks using Azure DevOps, Maven and Helm.
• Experienced with container infra: Kubernetes, OCP or AWS EKS.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI-enabled backend capabilities including LLM and RAG patterns.
• Implement prompt orchestration, agent workflows and AI service adapters.
• Ensure secure, governed AI integrations with access control and guardrails.
• Develop reusable APIs, configurable prompts and resilient service design.
• Support observability with logging, monitoring and latency metrics.
