Job summary
WD is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Sputter Equipment Engineering to join the Equipment Engineering team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will start up, commission, and sustain sputter systems, focusing on equipment software, PLC controls, and machine interfaces to enable safe, reliable production operations.
You will collaborate with OEM/Interfactory and cross-functional teams to validate software, troubleshoot issues, and support successful handover to production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field.
- Experience with software, automation, or equipment engineering; start-up/commissioning is a plus.
- Working knowledge of PLC-based control systems and understanding of PLC logic.
- Ability to troubleshoot software and equipment interfaces using logs and diagnostics.
- Proficiency in documenting technical reports and clear testing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Support installation, start-up, commissioning, qualification and sustaining of Sputter equipment.
- Troubleshoot PLC logic, alarms, interlocks, and machine interfaces to restore operation.
- Review and test PLC programs with OEM/Interfactory under change-control.
- Integrate PLCs, sensors, actuators, vacuum equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Perform functional testing, I/O checks, and system acceptance tests.
- Develop and maintain software backups and configuration files.
