Job summary

WD is seeking a Senior Equipment Engineer specializing in sputter media to lead sustaining, reliability, and continuous improvement for high-volume hard disk media manufacturing. You will guide technicians to maintain stable operations, reduce downtime, and enable next-generation product and process requirements.

The role requires strong technical leadership and collaboration with Process, Yield, Production, and Quality teams to improve equipment performance and overall manufacturing efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Materials Engineering or related.
• 5–8 years in equipment engineering within semiconductor, sputter media, vacuum coating or advanced manufacturing.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with data analysisAbility to work in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day equipment sustaining, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Drive reliability improvements to increase uptime and reduce chronic failures.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for long-term performance.
• Lead RCA for major failures and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate new equipment installation, qualification and acceptance.
• Collaborate with Process, Yield, Production and Quality teams to improve capability.
