Job summary

Western Digital Corporation is seeking a Senior Manufacturing, Equipment Engineering (Software) in Penang. The role focuses on equipment software, PLC-based controls, interfaces and troubleshooting to enable safe, reliable manufacturing operations.

You will collaborate with OEM/Interfactory teams and cross-functional groups to resolve software issues, validate systems, and hand over equipment to production. Strong documentation and hands-on startup experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software/Computer/Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronics/Automation or related field.
• Experience with software, automation, controls or equipment engineering; start-up/commissioning support is a plus.
• Knowledge of PLC-based control systems and ability to understand control logic, I/O, alarms and interlocks.

Responsibilities

• Support start-up, commissioning, qualification and sustaining of sputter equipment.
• Troubleshoot software, PLC logic, alarms and interlocks to restore operation.
• Review and test PLC programs and equipment control functions with OEM/Interfactory.
• Integrate PLCs, sensors, actuators, motors and vacuum equipment.
• Perform functional testing, I/O checks and system acceptance tests.
• Document changes, configurations and test results per site procedures.
