Job summary

Altera in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Staff Application Engineer to join the Worldwide Regional Applications group. You will work with R&D teams and customers to enable next-generation designs across FPGA/ASIC platforms, leveraging 5G and DSP expertise.

In this role you will handle customer escalations, collaborate with field teams and distributors, contribute to development projects, and develop training materials on new features and methodologies while promoting best practices across sites.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Electronics, Electrical or Software Engineering with 10+ years in Architecture/Design/5G/DSP.
• Experience with RTL-based design flows and FPGA/ASIC design processes.
• Industrial standard contributions (IEEE) are a plus.
• Strong problem solving and ability to report concisely to management.

Responsibilities

• Handle key customer escalations from analysis to closure.
• Work with field team and distributors to improve customer designs and experience.
• Participate in development projects, possibly international, with collateral and reference designs.
• Develop and deliver training materials on new features and methodologies.
• Foster strong intra- and inter-organizational communication in a team environment.
• Stay current with and propose industry approaches, algorithms, and practices.
