Job summary

Tenaga Nasional Berhad in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Senior Analyst to advise on renewable energy compliance and the energy transition. You will monitor regulations, support the national energy roadmap, and analyze emerging technologies and policy developments.

You will engage with industry groups and regulators, manage renewable energy PPAs, and deliver risk analyses, cost-benefit studies, and financial modelling for Solar + BESS, wind, and hydro projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Power or Mechanical Engineering.
• MBA or engineering management preferred.
• Minimum 7 years in the electricity supply industry.
• Experience dealing with stakeholders, government officers and regulators is an added advantage.
• Good aptitude for software tools: PSS/E, Thermoflow, PLEXOS.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret national and international regulations related to renewable energy.
• Support the development and execution of the national energy roadmap, focusing on transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.
• Conduct analysis on emerging RE technologies, market trends, and policy developments that impact the energy transition.
• Provide insights on risk, cost-benefit analysis, financial modelling, and long-term sustainability related to energy transition projects (e.g., Solar + BESS, BESS standalone, pump storage, wind, hydro).
• Engage with external stakeholders, such as industry groups and environmental organizations, to stay ahead of industry best practices.
• Support the management of renewable energy PPA from conception through execution, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
• Conduct research on energy market trends, renewable energy technologies, and the regulatory landscape to identify risks and opportunities for Single Buyer.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Power or Mechanical Engineering

Provide transparent and independent advisory services on generation technical matters and issues to stakeholders.

Accountability & Responsibility

Education and Knowledge

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of working experience, with at least 5 years related exposure in the electricity supply industry
• Experience dealing with stakeholders, government officers and regulators is an added advantage
• Good aptitude required for software tools e.g. PSS/E, Thermoflow, PLEXOS etc.
• Positive attitude in conducting desktop research and analysis
