Job summary

Bukku is a fast-growing cloud accounting software company in Malaysia. We’re looking for a Senior Accounts & Finance Executive to run the finance function and own the books, with a mandate to automate routine tasks and shift focus toward budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering.

You’ll manage full-set accounts, month-end close, statutory compliance, and treasury, while collaborating with the product and regional teams to drive efficiency and growth.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting/Finance required; professional qualification is a plus.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting/finance experience; startup/tech/SaaS helpful.
• Solid knowledge of Malaysian statutory and tax requirements.
• Tech-savvy with cloud accounting software and automation tools; ability to use Bukku is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail; good communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Act as internal power user: stress-test Bukku and feed insights to product team.

We’re looking for a Senior Accounts & Finance Executive to run the finance function of an accounting software company — which makes this a very different accounting job. You’ll own our books, but you’ll do it on Bukku, as our own most demanding user, with a mandate to automate away the manual and repetitive work rather than live with it. As that happens, your time shifts towards finance: budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and partnering with the business as we head regional. Responsibilities

Build the automated back office

• Own and continuously improve our accounting processes, automating the routine work using Bukku, AI tools, and integrations — we believe routine accounting should be done by machines, not humans.
• Act as Bukku’s internal power user: stress-test the product on our own books and feed insights and feature ideas back to the product team.

Own the numbers

• Manage the full set of accounts (AP/AR, general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations) and deliver timely, accurate month-end and year-end closing.
• Prepare financial statements and management reports.
• Handle statutory compliance and tax matters, and liaise with auditors, tax agents, and the company secretary.
• Manage cash flow, payments, and day-to-day treasury matters.

Grow into finance

• Take an increasing role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, and partner with management on ad-hoc analysis and business decisions as the role evolves.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional qualification (ACCA / CIMA / CPA / MIA) is a strong plus.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance. Audit, commercial, and shared-services backgrounds are all welcome; exposure to a startup, tech, or SaaS company is a plus.
• Solid understanding of full-set accounts and Malaysian statutory and tax requirements.
• Tech savvy and comfortable with cloud accounting software and automation tools, and curious about how AI can change finance work (bonus points if you’ve used Bukku!).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
• Takes ownership: you’ll run the function day to day and be trusted to make it better, not just keep it ticking.
• Good communication skills in English; another language (Malay or Chinese) is a plus.
