Job summary

DayOne is seeking aSenior Fixed Asset Accountant in Malaysia to manage the fixed asset lifecycle, from acquisition to disposal. You will maintain registrations, perform monthly depreciation, and support audits while ensuring compliance with IFRS/GAAP and company policy.

The role requires 5+ years of fixed asset accounting experience, proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems, and strong analytical skills to reconcile data across platforms and the general ledger.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of fixed asset accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of fixed asset lifecycle, IFRS/USGAAP/local GAAP.
• Proficiency with Excel and ERP asset modules (SAP).

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end fixed asset processes from acquisition to retirement with accurate documentation.
• Maintain fixed asset register with proper classification, capitalization, and tracking.
• Reconcile asset data between systems and GL, investigating variances.
• Calculate and record monthly depreciation; support internal and external audits.
• Develop and enhance fixed asset accounting policies and internal controls.

Summary: Detail-oriented and reliable Senior Fixed Asset Accountant with proven experience managing the full lifecycle of fixed assets, from acquisition to disposal. Skilled in maintaining accurate fixed asset registers, performing system-to-ledger reconciliations, calculating depreciation, and supporting audits. Strong analytical abilities with hands‑on experience in physical asset verification and compliance with accounting standards. Able to travel as required to support operational and audit needs.

Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end fixed asset processes, including asset additions, transfers, and retirements with timely and accurate documentation.
• Maintain a complete and accurate fixed asset register, ensuring proper classification, capitalization, and tracking of all assets.
• Perform reconciliation of fixed asset data between operational systems and accounting systems, resolving discrepancies and ensuring data integrity.
• Calculate and record monthly depreciation, reviewing useful lives and ensuring compliance with company policy and accounting standards.
• Reconcile fixed asset balances to general ledger accounts, preparing schedules and investigating variances as needed.
• Prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual fixed asset reports, including roll‑forwards and supporting analyses.
• Participate in physical asset counts, validating asset existence, condition, and location; support follow‑up investigations.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests, providing documentation, explanations, and reconciliation support.
• Develop and enhance fixed asset accounting policies, SOPs, and internal controls to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/USGAAP/local GAAP regarding capitalization, impairment, depreciation, and asset disposals.
• Provide general accounting support and assist with other finance tasks as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Min of 5 years of hands‑on experience in fixed asset accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and fixed asset lifecycle management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with fixed asset modules in ERP (SAP) and operational asset tracking system.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
