Job summary

Hitachi Rail STS Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Senior Accountant to maintain accurate financial records, ensure regulatory compliance, and support financial reporting and analysis.

The role requires independent accounting execution and collaboration with internal stakeholders to support business objectives. The successful candidate will manage general ledger activities, perform reconciliations, assist with budgeting and cost management, and support audits in a large international environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reporting standards and internal controls.
• Experience maintaining full set of books in a large international organization.
• Experience with SAP and financial reporting tools; Malaysia and international tax management expertise.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, journal entries, and month-end closing.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, financial reporting and taxation requirements.
• Perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet and P&L accounts; manage intercompany balances.
• Prepare periodic financial statements, management reports and schedules.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cost management activities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and assist audits.

Job Summary

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting financial reporting and analysis activities. The role requires independent execution of accounting functions, effective problem-solving, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Compliance

• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain and manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account classifications, and month-end closing activities.
• Process and review cash receipts, payments, tax transactions, and other financial activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, financial reporting, and taxation requirements.

Account Reconciliation & Controls

• Perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, profit and loss accounts, intercompany balances, and bank accounts.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
• Maintain effective internal controls and support audit requirements.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare periodic financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and cash flow reports.
• Generate financial analyses and reports for management decision-making.
• Support external reporting requirements, including regulatory and compliance submissions.

Budgeting & Cost Management

• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance.
• Assist with cost accounting functions, including allocation of direct and indirect costs where applicable.

Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Credit Management

• Oversee or support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
• Monitor customer collections and outstanding receivables.
• Ensure timely vendor payments and effective credit management practices.

Stakeholder Support

• Collaborate with internal departments to provide accounting guidance and financial information.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and explanations.
• Communicate accounting policies, procedures, and financial information effectively to stakeholders.

You have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, reporting standards, and internal controls.
• Proven experience in maintaining full set of books in a large international organization
• Experience with SAP systems and financial reporting tools. Malaysia and International tax management proven expertise
