Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Trainee Telecommunications Engineer to contribute to railway signaling and communications projects in Kuala Lumpur. You will assist in network design, testing, documentation, and the preparation of technical bid content, working with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.

The role requires a degree or masters in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, and proficiency with MS Office and diagramming

Qualifications

• Degree or Masters in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with diagramming tools (AutoCAD, Visio, Lucidchart) and bid/document work.

• Design, develop, test and validate telecommunications networks and security components.
• Prepare tender and proposal documentation focusing on technical aspects.
• Coordinate with internal teams and subcontractors for project implementation and support quality checks.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

Telecommunications Engineer for projects in the railway industry

Network Design, Development, and Testing:

Assistin developing technical solutions for communications backbone networks, including switches, routers, firewalls, fiber optics, and UTP cables.

Create diagrams and visual representations of network architectures using tools like AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, or similar software.

Participate in the testing and validation of network designs to ensure performance and reliability.

Contribute to the development and documentation of network configurations.

Technical Bid Support:

Assist in preparing tender and proposal documentation for submission to customers, focusing on the technical aspects.

Review bid requirements and contribute to the development of technical proposal outlines, templates, and compliance matrices.

Conduct research on industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies in communications networks to enhance proposal content.

Gather relevant technical information to support the development of innovative and compliant solutions.

Project Implementation Support:

Provide general technical support during the implementation phase of projects, including assisting with system integration activities.

Coordinate with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution of project tasks.

Support troubleshooting efforts for technical issues that arise during implementation.

Perform quality checks to ensure all proposal documents are properly formatted, organized, and ready for submission.

Qualification

Education and Experience

Graduate inDegreeor Mastersin TelecommunicationsEngineering,ElectricalEngineering,ComputerScience, ora relatedfield .

Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management tools.

Knowledge/ Skills

Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential for drafting proposals.

Bid administrators must have a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in bid documents and administrative tasks.

Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, IP addressing).

Experience with diagramming tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, or Lucidchart (preferred but not mandatory).

Effective communication, both verbal and written, is key when liaising with stakeholders, negotiating contract terms, and documenting agreements.
