Permai Rainforest Resort in Kuching, Sarawak is hiring a Security Officer to join our team. The role focuses on protecting guests, staff and property through vigilant patrols, access control and rapid incident response.

You will operate CCTV, report incidents, assist guests, and coordinate with local authorities as needed. The ideal candidate has resort security experience, a valid license, strong communication skills and the stamina to work night shifts and weekends in a tropical rainforest

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Security Officer or in a similar security role within hospitality.
• Current security license or certification as required by Sarawak regulations.
• Strong communication skills with guests and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent observational and analytical skills to identify risks.
• Physical fitness to perform duties including standing and emergencies.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, conflict resolution and crisis management.
• Reliability and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional languages are a plus.
• Professional appearance that reflects resort standards.
• Experience in a resort/hotel environment is highly desirable.

About the role

Permai Rainforest Resort is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team in Kuching, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of our guests, staff, and facilities. As Security Officer, you will be the cornerstone of our resort's security operations, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all who visit our beautiful rainforest sanctuary. Your presence and professionalism will directly contribute to the peace of mind of our guests and the smooth operation of the resort.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of resort grounds, buildings, and facilities to detect and prevent any suspicious activity or security breaches
• Monitor and manage access to the resort, verifying credentials and maintaining accurate visitor logs
• Operate and monitor security systems, including CCTV cameras and alarm systems
• Respond promptly to security incidents, disturbances, or emergencies and document all occurrences in incident reports
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting guests with inquiries whilst maintaining a professional and reassuring demeanor
• Conduct vehicle inspections and manage parking areas to ensure guest and staff vehicle safety
• Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when required
• Maintain security equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to management
• Perform night shifts, weekend, and holiday duties as scheduled
• Enforce resort policies and procedures consistently and professionally

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as a Security Officer or in a similar security role within the hospitality industry
• Current security license or certification as required by local regulations in Sarawak
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests and staff from diverse backgrounds
• Excellent observational and analytical skills to identify potential security risks
• Physical fitness and ability to perform duties that may require standing for extended periods and responding to emergencies
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, conflict resolution, and crisis management
• Reliability and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to speak in other languages is an advantage
• A professional appearance and ability to present a positive image of the resort
• Previous experience in a resort or hotel environment is highly desirable

Product and Service

Permai Rainforest Resort is a relaxing Eco Resort which provides recreational outdoor activities for individual travelers, families and groups. At the same time, Permai also conduct teambuilding, training and conferences in an exquisite location set by the sea in a lush green forest.

There are 7 streams running through the resort with 2 beaches and a dipping pool filled by stream water from mountain. With the resort built entirely under and surrounded by leech free forest, it is always cool when walking around which is why in some rooms are only equipped with fans. Being built under a forest also means that wildlife is visible and so the animals such as Silver Langurs, Flying Lemurs and Otters are visible within the resort at different times.

Permai Rainforest Resort comprises 18 units of non air conditioned cabins,1 Unit of double storey cabin, 3 units of air-conditioned cabins, 10 units of air conditioned Tree Houses and Camp Site Area.

Other facilities include conference halls, namely, Sepang Room, Embang Room, Belian Room and Jungle Hall.
