Job summary

PKT LOGISTICS (M) SDN. BHD. is seeking a seasoned Security Manager in Penang to lead the overall security function, protect people and assets, and guide risk mitigation across facilities and operations.

You will oversee a security team, guard force management, and vendor relationships, while ensuring compliance with TAPA standards and driving continuous improvement across security programs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Security Practitioners, ensuring high standards of performance and operational effectiveness.
• Manage and oversee the guard force function, including manpower planning, deployment, shift arrangements, supervision, training, and compliance.
• Establish guard force controls for access, patrols, incident response, visitor management, and key control.
• Design, implement, and manage physical security infrastructure (access control, CCTV, intrusion, fire detection).
• Serve as a cross-functional partner, providing security guidance on operations and projects.
• Manage security service providers, contractors, and SLAs.
• Own and manage TAPA certification and audits, including documentation and corrective actions.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly security performance reports with KPI results and incident data.
• Monitor security performance and risks, implementing corrective actions.

Job description

Lead and manage the overall security function, ensuring effective protection of people, assets, facilities, information, and business operations. Gather, assess, and analyse security intelligence, emerging threats, and risk information, and implement appropriate preventative and mitigation measures. Develop and implement comprehensive physical security strategies, standards, and solutions aligned with business requirements and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Security Practitioners, ensuring high standards of performance, professionalism, and operational effectiveness

Manage and oversee the guard force function, including manpower planning, deployment, post orders, shift arrangements, supervision, discipline, training, performance management, and compliance with security requirements

Establish and maintain effective guard force controls to ensure adequate coverage, access control, patrol effectiveness, incident response, visitor management, key control, emergency response, and adherence to site security procedures

Leverage strong project management skills and a security-focused mindset to design, implement, and manage the lifecycle of physical security infrastructure, including access control, intrusion detection, fire detection, CCTV, and other electronic security systems

Serve as a key cross-functional partner to internal departments, providing security expertise and guidance on operational, facility, project, and business initiatives

Manage security service providers, technology partners, contractors, and other external vendors, including contracts, performance, deliverables, and service-level agreements

Own and manage the organization's TAPA certification programme, ensuring continued compliance with applicable TAPA requirements and standards

Lead the preparation, coordination, and successful completion of TAPA certification and annual surveillance/re-certification audits, including documentation, evidence, corrective actions, and follow-up activities

Develop monthly and quarterly security performance reports for management, including KPI results, security incidents, guard force performance, audit findings, compliance status, and improvement actions

Monitor security operational performance, incident statistics, reports, trends, variances, and emerging risks, and take appropriate corrective or preventative action

About you

Bachelor's Degree or Security related Certifications or Memberships (e.g. TAPA, CTPAT, ASIS)

TAPA certification/qualification or recognised TAPA certification-related competency, with demonstrated experience managing TAPA compliance and audits

Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in security management, physical security, supply chain security, logistics security, manufacturing security, or a related field

Proven experience leading and developing security teams

Strong knowledge of physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and alarm systems

Demonstrated experience in security risk assessment, threat management, incident management, and security programme development

Strong project management and vendor management experience

Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills

Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and levels of the organization

Strong understanding of security standards, compliance requirements, audit processes, and continuous improvement principles
