Job summary

S&P Global Energy in Malaysia's Penang region seeks a seasoned researcher to support Southeast Asia power and renewables market insights. You will analyze demand-supply dynamics, build market models, and deliver data-driven insights to clients across regions.

You will work with a global team to develop forward-looking outlooks, prepare comprehensive reports, and engage directly with clients to explain findings and implications for investment decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Engineering, or related field. Master’s preferred.
• 3–6 years in consulting, research, utilities, or energy sector.
• Experience in power/renewables or gas market research desirable.
• Strong data analytics and data quality focus.
• Hands-on power market modeling using PLEXOS or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze power demand and supply via data collection, modeling and quantitative analysis.
• Conduct market and data research on power and renewable project transactions and tenders.
• Support development of PLEXOS-based power market models for Southeast Asia.
• Translate model outputs into clear quantitative insights for clients.
• Collaborate with teams to develop long-term outlooks for power demand, supply and prices.
