S&P Global Energy in Penang, Malaysia, seeks a seasoned analyst to advance its Southeast Asia Power and Renewables research, delivering forward‑looking market insights and actionable recommendations. You will build quantitative models, analyze data, and write reports for clients across utilities, finance, and industry sectors.

You will work with analysts across markets and time zones, translating outputs into strategic guidance while supporting ongoing market outlook development and client

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, Energy Economics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in consulting, research, utilities, or financial services, preferably with energy exposure.
• Experience in power/renewable energy or gas market research desirable.
• Strong quantitative skills and data quality focus.
• Hands-on experience building power market models using PLEXOS or similar tools is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Indonesian/Thai/Vietnamese language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze power demand and supply through data collection, modeling and quantitative analysis to derive insights.
• Conduct market and data research on power and renewable energy project transactions and tenders.
• Develop PLEXOS-based power market models for Southeast Asia, incl. capacity expansion and price forecasting.
• Translate model outputs into clear quantitative insights for clients.
• Deliver comprehensive written reports and engage directly with clients.
• Collaborate with other teams to develop long-term outlooks for power markets across SEA.
