Job summary

Malakoff Corporation invites applications for a Safety & Health Officer (SHO) in Group Safety at Lumut Power Plant, Perak. You will implement OSH requirements across plant operations, outages and project works, ensuring compliance with DOSH and company policies.

Responsibilities include inspections, incident investigations, risk assessments and contractor safety oversight during outages, commissioning and maintenance, with a focus on cultural safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, engineering, environmental science, or related field.
• Registered Safety & Health Officer (Green Book) with DOSH.
• 3–5 years of experience in industrial, power, oil & gas, manufacturing or construction.
• Knowledge of OSHA, FMA and other relevant Malaysian safety legislation.
• Experience in outage management and permit-to-work systems is an added advantage.
• Strong communication, investigation and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work on site and support outages or project activities.

• Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Prepare HSSE reports, statistics and compliance documents.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure legal compliance.
• Participate in continuous improvement to strengthen safety culture.

Location: Lumut Power Plant (LPP), Perak
Department: Group Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)

Job Purpose

To support the implementation and enforcement of occupational safety and health requirements across plant operations, outage activities, and project works, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices. The role is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment through proactive monitoring, risk management, contractor supervision, incident investigation, and safety assurance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations, company HSSE policies, and permit-to-work (PTW) requirements.
• Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments for plant operations, outages, and project activities.
• Support contractor safety management, including monitoring high-risk activities such as confined space entry, lifting operations, hot work, and work at height.
• Provide HSSE oversight during outage, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
• Investigate incidents, safety observations, and near misses, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Facilitate safety briefings, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes for employees and contractors.
• Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Prepare HSSE reports, statistics, and compliance documentation.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure adherence to applicable legal requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the plant’s safety culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Registered Safety & Health Officer (Green Book Holder) with DOSH.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial, power generation, oil & gas, manufacturing, or construction environments.
• Sound knowledge of OSHA, FMA, and other relevant Malaysian safety legislation.
• Experience in outage management, contractor safety management, and permit-to-work systems is an added advantage.
• Strong communication, investigation, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work at site and support outage or project activities when required.
