TECHMAN ELECTRONICS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a dedicated Safety & Health Officer to join our Bukit Minyak, Penang team.

This full-time role focuses on developing and implementing occupational health and safety programmes to ensure compliance with Malaysian OSHA 1994 and international best practices. You will conduct risk assessments, lead training, manage records, and liaise with regulators and insurers.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH/ Diploma or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in OHS, preferably in manufacturing/electronics.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1994 and related regulations.
• Experience in risk assessments, incident investigations and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain OHS policies compliant with Malaysian legislation and best practices.
• Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments and risk evaluations.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and preventive actions.
• Provide safety training and induction programmes for staff.
• Maintain safety records and liaise with regulators, insurers and consultants.
• Deliver emergency plans, evacuation procedures and fire safety protocols.
• Audit safety metrics and report trends to management.
• Collaborate with managers to meet safety objectives and allocate resources.

About the role

TECHMAN ELECTRONICS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety & Health Officer to join our team in Bukit Minyak, Penang. This is a full‑time position that plays a critical role in protecting our workforce and maintaining a safe working environment across all operations. As Safety & Health Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive occupational health and safety programmes that ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices. This position reports directly to senior management and is instrumental in fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes in accordance with Malaysian legislation and international best practices
• Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations to identify potential safety concerns and recommend corrective actions
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near‑misses, documenting findings and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence
• Provide health and safety training and induction programmes to all staff members, ensuring adequate understanding of safety procedures and protocols
• Monitor and maintain safety records, incident reports, and compliance documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, insurance companies, and external safety consultants as required
• Conduct ergonomic assessments and promote workplace wellness initiatives to enhance employee wellbeing
• Develop and deliver emergency preparedness and response plans, including evacuation procedures and fire safety protocols
• Audit safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to management on safety statistics and trends
• Collaborate with departmental managers to ensure safety objectives are met and resources are allocated appropriately

What we're looking for

• A recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (such as IOSH Managing Safely, Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent qualification)
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in occupational health and safety, preferably within the manufacturing, electronics, or industrial sector
• Sound knowledge of Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994 and related regulations
• Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigations
• Strong knowledge of first aid, emergency response procedures, and fire safety protocols
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels and promote safety awareness
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health and safety management software
• Demonstrated ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a team environment
• Attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Preferred experience in ISO 45001 implementation or other international health and safety management systems
