Job summary

IOI Acidchem Sdn Bhd is seeking a seasoned SHE leader to plan, implement, and monitor Safety, Health & Environment programs across our manufacturing site in Penang. You will drive risk assessments, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance, collaborating with operations and maintenance to embed SHE best practices into daily activity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or a related technical discipline.
• Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH Malaysia.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001; incident investigation and emergency management.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and monitor SHE programs to ensure compliance with laws and company standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, inspections, audits to identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and update SHE policies and procedures to support compliance and excellence.
• Coordinate safety training, awareness campaigns, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Lead incident investigations; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders on SHE matters.
• Prepare and submit required SHE reports and regulatory documentation.
• Collaborate with operations/maintenance to integrate SHE into daily plant activities.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement in SHE.
• Ensure adherence to all SHE regulations, standards, and company requirements.

Job description

• Plan, implement, and monitor Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop, review, and update SHE policies, procedures, and guidelines to support operational excellence and continuous compliance.
• Organize and coordinate safety, health, and environmental training programs, awareness campaigns, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Lead and participate in incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities and external stakeholders on SHE-related matters.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit required reports, records, and regulatory documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Collaborate closely with operations and maintenance teams to integrate SHE best practices into day-to-day plant activities.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement in SHE performance across the organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated exposure to EHS management practices.
• Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or another relevant technical discipline.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, incident investigation, emergency management and applicable regulations.
• Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Malaysia.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to drive a strong safety culture across the organization.
