Job summary

DPI SDN. BHD. is seeking a Safety Executive in Muar to support the Safety & Health Officer in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace within a manufacturing environment.

The role is suitable for fresh graduates; you will participate in inspections, PPE monitoring, fire protection checks and various OSH activities guided by the SHO.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety inspections and identify hazards.
• Assist in fire protection equipment checks and reporting.
• Monitor PPE stock and usage; maintain PPE records.

Job description

The Safety Executive is to support the Safety & Health Officer in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace through routine safety inspections, documentation, PPE monitoring, fire protection checks and other occupational safety and health activities.

This position is suitable for a fresh graduate who is interested in developing a career in Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Safety Inspection & Hazard Identification

Conduct routine workplace inspections covering production areas, aerosol filling lines, chemical storage areas, warehouse and other work areas.

Identify and report Unsafe Acts and Unsafe Conditions to the SHO or relevant person.

Record safety observations, findings and corrective actions.

Follow up on assigned corrective actions under the guidance of the SHO.

Assist in monitoring housekeeping, 5S and safe working practices.

Fire Protection Equipment

Assist in conducting routine inspections of fire protection equipment such as:

• Hose reels
• Hydrants
• Fire alarm-related equipment

Update inspection checklists and logbooks.

Report damaged, missing, expired or inaccessible fire protection equipment to the SHO.

Assist during fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.

PPE & First Aid Management

Conduct routine checks on First Aid Boxes to ensure items are available and within expiry dates.

Assist in monitoring PPE stock and usage.

Maintain records for PPE issued to employees.

Assist in checking availability of PPE such as:

• Safety goggles
• Respirators
• Safety footwear
• Hearing protection

Report PPE shortages or unsuitable PPE conditions to the SHO.

Scheduled Waste & Environmental Support

Assist the SHO / Environment Officer with routine scheduled waste activities.

Check scheduled waste storage areas for proper housekeeping, labeling and segregation.

Assist in maintaining scheduled waste records and inventory.

Assist with updates and documentation related to the DOE e-SWIS system under supervision.

Report any improper storage, labeling or handling of scheduled waste.

Permit to Work (PTW) & Safety Documentation

Assist in coordinating Permit to Work (PTW) documentation for contractors and maintenance activities.

Check that relevant HIRARC / risk assessment documents are available before work begins.

Assist in monitoring high-risk activities such as hot work, working at height and confined space work.

Maintain and organize PTW and safety documentation.

Assist the SHO with DOSH-related documentation and MyKKP records.

Toolbox Talk & Safety Training

Assist in organizing Toolbox Talks and safety briefings.

Prepare attendance records and maintain training documentation.

Assist in preparing safety awareness materials, posters and notices.

Participate in safety induction for new employees and contractors.

Assist the SHO in collecting basic information, photographs and relevant records following workplace incidents or near-misses.

Assist in maintaining incident and near-miss records.

Support the implementation and monitoring of corrective actions.

Escalate safety concerns immediately to the SHO or Management.

External Consultant & Audit Support

Assist in coordinating site access and arrangements for external consultants.

Support activities related to:

• Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA)
• Noise Risk Assessment (NRA)
• Other safety and health assessments

Assist in preparing documents and records required for ISO and internal audits.

Maintain proper filing and document control for SHE records.

Safety & Health Monitoring

Assist in monitoring compliance with company safety rules, SOPs and PPE requirements.

Participate in safety campaigns and continuous improvement activities.

Report unsafe conditions immediately and assist in implementing corrective actions.

Perform other safety-related duties assigned by the SHO or Management.

Any others task assigned by superior from time to time

Qualifications & Requirements

Diploma / Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management or related field.

Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Basic understanding of OSH principles and Malaysian workplace safety requirements.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Able to work independently as well as with different departments.

Basic Microsoft Office / Google Workspace skills.

Willing to work in a manufacturing environment and conduct regular site inspections.
