Job summary

Linde ROC Sdn Bhd in Shah Alam is seeking a Team Lead to oversee station operations, manage a team of Shift Engineers, and drive safety, reliability, and productivity across the plant.

You will mentor staff, conduct assessments, coordinate with People Competency, and lead continuous improvement projects including MOC and AST initiatives, ensuring compliance with ROC policies and safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
• At least 10 years in industrial gas operations.
• Minimum 3 years in supervisory/remote ops.
• Strong knowledge of ASU processes, cryogenic systems, and control systems like DCS/SCADA.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision‑making.
• Ability to work in 24/7 high‑pressure environment.

Making an impact. What will you do?

• Lead station operations with Shift Engineers reporting directly to you, ensuring the team consistently meets operational, process safety, and productivity targets. Drive the recruitment and replacement of Shift Engineers while working closely with the People Competency team to support skill development and capability building.
• Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA), promote the adoption of new tools and technologies, monitor team performance, identify competency gaps, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Support Shift Engineers during troubleshooting, process upsets, and plant restarts to ensure safe and reliable operations.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), share lessons learned, and maintain records in LIDAP.
• Initiate and manage Management of Change (MOC) applications, maintain up-to-date process documentation, and prepare startup and operational procedures for new plants.
• Collaborate with Performance Engineers to optimize plant performance, reduce alarms and minimize human error, tune process controllers with the support of relevant teams, and contribute to the development, commissioning, and continuous improvement of Auto Start-up (AST) systems.
• Communicate proactively with Plant Managers regarding site interventions, promptly elevate major operational issues, lead initiatives to reduce power consumption and improve product recovery, and work closely with subject matter experts to drive innovation.
• Be accountable for the growth, competency, and performance of your team and ensure that ROC operating and optimization policies are consistently followed by all reporting engineers.

Winning in your role. Do you have what it takes?

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in industrial gas operations, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or remote operations role.
• Strong knowledge of ASU processes, cryogenic systems, and control systems (e.g., DCS, SCADA).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to work in a high‑pressure, 24/7 operational environment.
